This weekend kicks off summer in the Roaring Fork Valley. The 121st Strawberry Days (that’s not a typo – 121st is correct) features a parade on Saturday morning followed by free strawberries and ice cream in Sayre Park, live entertainment and music on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and a well-rounded arts and crafts fair. This is Glenwood Spring’s signature summer event. If you’re looking for something fun and free, head to Glenwood Springs for Strawberry Days.
Aspen Glen and Carbondale folks – you can bike to Glenwood Springs along the Rio Grande Trail. A bike corral and attendants are waiting to valet park your bike!
Up-valley, Aspen is home to the Food & Wine Magazine’s Food & Wine Classic. Grand Tastings under sparkling white tents in Wagner Park are held Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The backdrop is Aspen Mountain, making every picture you take the best one yet. Speakers and their topics include Laura Werlin – “To Brie or Not to Brie: Indulgent Cheeses & Wines; Mark Oldman – “Spanish Wines for Millionaires”; Claudine Pepin & Jacques Pepin – “Lessons from a Grandfather”. While certainly not free, this event is both fun and enlightening!
